An Evening at By Charlotte QVB
There's a rule we use at The Spiritual Toolbox when it comes to events and collaborations. If it's not an immediate yes, it's a no.
When By Charlotte reached out ahead of their QVB flagship opening, it was an immediate yes.
The event
On the 6th of November 2025, Angelica and I headed into the QVB to be part of By Charlotte's flagship store opening. We were there to offer tarot readings to their VIP guests throughout the evening - back to back, for hours, in one of Sydney's most beautiful and iconic buildings.
If you're not familiar with By Charlotte, it's an Australian jewellery brand built on intentional design and meaningful symbolism. There's a real alignment between what they make and what we do - both are about objects that carry meaning, that people reach for with intention, that sit close to the body and the self. The collaboration felt like a natural fit.
What it was actually like
I'll be honest about the one challenge: it was loud. The event was popular, the space was alive, and doing readings in that kind of environment requires a different kind of focus than a quiet room. You have to find stillness inside the noise rather than waiting for the noise to stop. Angelica and I both found our rhythm with it, but it's worth naming that event readings are their own skill set!
Everything was genuinely wonderful. Charlotte herself is exactly what you'd hope - grounded, warm, present. The kind of person who makes you feel immediately at ease. Her team reflected that same energy. There was no pretension, no performance of being a big brand. Just good people who care about what they make and wanted their guests to have a meaningful experience.
We don't do events where we're a novelty act or an add-on and we show up where the values actually align and where the people involved take the work seriously. By Charlotte cleared that bar easily and effortlessly.
What back to back readings in that environment actually requires
For anyone curious about what event readings involve - this is what we were doing:
Each guest sits down, often mid-conversation with a drink in hand, in a noisy, celebratory environment. Our job is to bring them into focus quickly, give them something real in a short window of time, and send them back out into the party feeling seen rather than just entertained.
It's a different pace to a full one-hour reading. The cards still tell the truth. The reading is still genuine. But the container is compressed, and you have to work efficiently without losing depth.
Angelica and I worked well as a team in that environment. Having two readers meant guests weren't waiting long, and it meant we could check in with each other between readings.
Why this kind of collaboration works for us
The Spiritual Toolbox exists to make spiritual practice accessible and real for people who might not otherwise encounter it. Brand events like this one put us in a room with people who wouldn't necessarily walk into our South Hurstville store - people who are curious, open, and often genuinely surprised by how much a reading lands.
That's exactly where we want to be.
If By Charlotte is the kind of brand that creates that environment for their guests, we're the kind of team that knows what to do with it - We'd do it again without hesitation (and we did, at Miranda in December)
